Water Soluble Hot Melt Adhesives for Paper Applications

As part of the sustainability journey, we know that different brand owners and consumers want an alternative, now we have a product that accelerates the repulp able and recyclable process. Since paper itself is easily repulp able and recyclable, the polymer-based adhesive that holds it together is not, recycling the product presents a significant challenge. Water insoluble polymer-based adhesives are normally used in paper products, which require an additional step of recycling.

DURAPRO hot melt adhesives dissolve during the pulping process, eliminating the need to remove them. When the converting process is complete, the tissue or towel tails are sealed to the roll with adhesive. With our adhesive, converters can improve the quality of their tail tie applications, whether it is hot melt or pressure sensitive. The adhesive will be water soluble, improving pulpability. Reducing the amount of insoluble polymer in recycled papers.

DURAPRO water-soluble hot melt adhesives range provides several laminating adhesive for tissue, paper and board applications. WSHM can be formulated as pressure sensitive or non pressure sensitive product solutions but still be water-soluble to meet customer needs. DURAPRO WSHM successfully passed TAPPI UM 213:2012 as splicing adhesives meeting all repulpability requirements.

DURA PRO® S17022W-57 is a water-soluble PSA hot melt adhesive developed for bonding cardboard and paper. It displays good adhesion, thermal stability and bond strength. It is also suitable for applications such as tissue laminating and roll machine gluing that require repulpability and the use of hot melt adhesive. It can be applied with jet, wheel, slot nozzles or spray also at high line speeds.

DURAPRO EM 7774 is a water-soluble hot melt adhesive developed for bonding cardboard and paper. It displays excellent adhesion, thermal stability and bond strength with short open time and fast set speed. It show excellent performance in tissue laminating and roll machine gluing that require repulpability.

DURAPRO EM 7774 successfully passed TAPPI UM 213:2012 as splicing adhesives meeting all repulpability requirements.
